USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
You may have a beautifully designed product, but if the journeys have not been properly designed, if the navigation is ambiguous, if you're adding unnecessary cognitive load, if the user is not clearly guided, if your UI lacks affordances or well-established UI patterns - then you most likely need help with your user experience. UX design is at the heart of everything we do.
Personas are a way for designers to see things from the user's point of view. By building a clear picture or persona of your key audience, we're more likely to understand, empathise and create products suitable for their needs.
This is a key element of every UX design project that we work on. User stories take the form of: As a <user type>, I want to <desired action>, so that <reason>. By doing this for all potential user types we're forced to consider many more user needs which helps us flesh out potential features for the product.
Information Architecture (Sitemaps)
With an understanding of our users, the potential features and content requirements we can develop the information architecture of your product. We typically undertake card sorting exercises to ensure that we're using well-understood names and groupings for navigational items. By the end of this, you should have a well-structured and well-understood site architecture that is a pleasure to navigate.
Interaction Design (Wireframing)
This is the first tangible step in designing an interface for your digital product. During this phase we concept and test various interaction solutions for the product in wireframe format. Depending on the project, we either produce formal, annotated, high-fidelity wireframe documentation or quick, low-fidelity sketches. Once we have an interaction design that works well, these are handed over to UI designers to visualise - often UI is done in parallel to the wireframing process.
Our UI designers produce clean, coherent UI designs that remain true to the UX vision. The UI team is well versed in UX and takes great care to ensure that usability, performance and user experience is maintained or enhanced during design. We regularly produce design systems for our clients that improve design efficiency whilst retaining consistency in the visual language that has been carefully crafted.
Prototyping & User Testing
This is one of the most important steps within the UXD process. We always prototype and test our solutions with users no matter the available budget. As user experience professionals, we want to find the flaws in our designs and by testing journeys with real users - we can find flaws, fix them and ultimately validate our solutions.
