A motivation brand designed for encouragement, not competition

Motimo is a Zaang concept built around a simple idea: most of us are more likely to keep going when friends and family are cheering us on.
Rather than relying on competition or strangers on a leaderboard, it draws on the encouragement that already exists in our lives. The people who notice when you turn up, and who care when you don’t, are often the ones best placed to help.

The project began as a couch-to-5k style workout soundtrack. As we worked, a bigger question emerged: how could technology and social connection help people build healthier habits? We widened the brief and shaped Motimo into a social motivation product.
Our research showed that sports marketing, however polished, often feels isolating to people who aren’t already into sport. It speaks to the committed and overlooks a much larger group: people who just want to stay healthy without the pressure of competition.

We designed a brand for people who don’t see themselves as sporty. Warmth, openness and encouragement shaped every decision. The identity needed to feel like a friend, not a coach. The name, colour palette, typography and messaging all had to encourage, not force.

Outcome
A bright, considered identity with a playful tone. It frames exercise as something positive and shared rather than solitary or competitive, and invites people in rather than measuring them against others.
